Romance, Roper

In addition to looking to settle in Worcester, I turned to my own apartment.  Since moving in, things keep breaking, the toilet stopped flushing, and it's perpetually freezing.  It became difficult to make it my home when everything I touch breaks.  One day a light in the kitchen went out.  I became frustrated as I tried to cook my dinner, unable to fully see what I was doing.  Later, however, I looked up to see my roommate working in the dim light and realized that, from afar, the lighting was really quite different.  It's dramatic, a bit romantic.  I was able to put aside the frustration and find something beautiful.

This photo not only plays with the extreme lighting, but also has sentimental value for me.  I realized, as I shot this photo, that the brand name on the stove is Roper.  This happens to be the name of a home I had once, one that I will probably never see again and that I often find myself missing.
